PP: "I hope you get better"

Tonight's episode included Katie's trial and was a pretty emotional trainwreck. Following is a recap of the trial as well as a summary of some of the other things that happened.

- Violet is called to testify at Katie's trial and leaves the stand before being sworn in. She says she cannot go through with it and she continues to refuse to talk to anyone. Katie's father then goes to see Violet and tells her Katie wants to talk to her because Katie thinks Violet is the only person who understands her. While at the prison, Katie tries to get Violet to understand that sane Katie is not the same person as crazy Katie and that Katie is not really a monster. Later, Violet admits that Dr. Turner knows Katie needs help, but Violet wants her in prison. Then on the stand for a second time, Violet relives what happened and in the end says Katie was delusional. Violet says she knows Katie is not evil, which means Katie will not go to jail. At the end of the episode, Pete confronts Violet and says he didn't understand why she supported Katie. Pete's a victim too in all this and he just wants the real Violet back. Hopefully now she is on the road to recovery.

In other happenings, after some persuasion, Sam and Addison agree to hire Charlotte to the practice. Charlotte is a neurologist, but now that she's at Oceanside Wellness, she wants to take on a new specialty: sexual dysfunctionality. This makes Cooper angry, or maybe more jealous, but in the end they resolve their problem and are just as in love as ever.

Grey's: "In the face of the impossible, we're inspired"

Tonight's Grey's Anatomy episode centered on Derek as he tried to operate on an inoperable tumor in a hospital staffer's spine. Below is a recap of what happened throughout this storyline, as well as a few other plot points.

- Derek starts the episode with a voiceover about how most surgeons enjoy the rush of surgery, but for Derek he likes the silence. Early on Derek is approached by a lab tech who wants Derek to operate on his tumor. The patient came to Derek because he takes a lot of risks, but Derek is sure the operation would kill the patient. When he approaches the chief, he says Derek cannot do the surgery because the tumor is too intricate. But Derek plans to do the surgery anyway. Right before the surgery, the patient gives Derek permission to paralyze him if it means saving his life while also giving an inspirational speech in the moments before he is knocked out. Ten hours into the surgery Derek has not done anything, all the while trying to plan his first move. The chief finds out about the surgery and makes Derek close the patient up. The patient, once he awakens, tells Derek he wants him to try again tomorrow. Derek refuses, but after going home and discussing it with Meredith, she gives him faith and he wants to try again. So Derek lies to the chief so he okays the surgery. The patient has given Derek the OK to be risky, so Derek goes in with no plan this time since overplanning led them nowhere the day before. Throughout the day-long surgery, Derek's only concern is the patient and everyone - except the chief - supports him. At the very end of the surgery, Derek takes a gamble with the last cut, not knowing if what he is doing will save or kill him. The patient wakes up later and can move his toes, which he thinks means the surgery did not work, but in reality Derek completed the surgery successfully and saved the patient's life. At the end of the episode Derek goes to the chief and says he is willing to put their feud behind him, but in a shocking twist, Richard fires Derek with no explanation. We'll see if it sticks, but Richard seemed pretty serious about it.

In other happenings: Izzie has an appointment for a procedure she needs to continue to live life without sickness, so Alex assumes she will show up, but she doesn't, which leads to Alex breaking down because she is being careless and putting her life in danger; Cristina does not perform well on a skills test and is kept out of Derek's surgery, which unleashes her inner perfectionist; Arizona stands up to the chief in a way no one would ever expect, only to then burst into tears on Callie's shoulder; Lexie proves she is extremely dedicated to her work, even going to the length of wearing a diaper during the long surgery; all of the new doctors have joined together in the belief that Alex is a douchebag.

What did you think of the episode? I was worried when they announced the episodes were going to start straying away from the core characters, but with limited Meredith and no Izzie the last few episodes, I found myself not even really noticing their absence. Though I want to point out that I am really looking forward to Kim Raver's appearance coming in the next few weeks.

Could GG be close to cancellation?

TvGuide.com put together this list of shows that may be in danger of being canceled before the full season run ends, and I am a bit shocked to see Gossip Girl on the list. While it seems inevitable that other shows like Dollhouse and Melrose Place are close to the end of their rope, I find it difficult to understand how the CW would continue to pour money into 90210 and abandon GG, which has a pretty dedicated following. I hope this list is wrong. I would be very disappointed if the show did not get a proper full season before it was banished.

SYTYCD: The top 20 (oh, wait, the top 19)

Tuesday night's episode of So You Think You Can Dance was the first competition episode of the season. And due to the baseball playoffs, there was no voting. Instead the judges picked the weakest four dancers who then danced for their life before one guy and one girl was sent home. But before I get to all that, below is a recap of the dances as well as some SYTYCD news.

It is official that Billy Bell is out of the competition and Noelle, who is injured, sat in the audience cheering the dancers on. The choreographer filled in for Noelle and, as said in previous posts, she has one week to recover or she will have to leave the competition permanently. Also during the episode, Nigel again mentioned how Paula Abdul has an open invitation to judge/dance/choreograph for the show. Another point: now that Adam is a permanent judge, does that mean there won't be a rotating judge each week? I thought Adam was going to be in addition to the usual three judges. As much as I love Adam, I am going to miss the rotating opinion. Now onto the performances.

1) Channing and Phillip are partnered together and for their first dance they tackled the jive choreographed by Jason. This was a very high energy and entertaining routine. The judges said they wanted more, but I thought it was a very strong first performance for two dancers out of their comfort zone.
2) Ashleigh and Jakob are together and performed a sexy and sultry Tyce Broadway routine. It was clear throughout the routine that Jakob has great technique and as a weaker dancer, Ashleigh has a lot of work to do, but for this dance she succeeded and pulled her own weight.
3) Partners Ariana and Peter danced a hip hop routine choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon. This was a fun routine. The pair was very in sync and played well off one another. I was not as disappointed as the judges seemed to be, but I do agree that Peter was the stronger dancer in this routine.
4) Russell, whose partner Noelle is sidelined with a knee injury, performed a foxtrot choreographed by Tony Meredith. Tony's wife, Melanie, danced with Russell, which made the dance difficult to take seriously. But overall Russell was very smooth. He worked the audience and did well in his performance.
5) Bianca and Victor danced together for the first time in a Travis Wall contemporary routine. This was a very cool, exciting, enticing routine that was amazingly choreographed. There were times during the routine that the pair actually danced and looked like one person. Though the judges pointed out that Bianca at times lacked the smooth movements Victor had, I didn't even notice this. I was grabbed and so believed the story of the dance, especially their great chemistry, that it seemed close to perfection to me.
6) Karen and Kevin performed a Tony choreographed cha cha for their first routine. After the video before the performance, I expected a trainwreck from them, but in the end it was OK. That said, it was hard to take your eyes off Karen who was crazy sexy throughout the dance. But I thought the dance was a bit choppy and not fluid at times, which affected the continuity of the performance.
7) Ellenore and Ryan joined together in a Sonya contemporary jazz routine. This was typical weird Sonya choreography and it was a very exciting dance. I think these two did very well in getting into character.
8) Pauline and Brandon (who only had a day and a half to prepare for the competition) tackled a Jason smooth waltz. It is understandable that this couple was not great, but it wasn't only Brandon who fell short. Pauline didn't totally finish some of her lines and movements, which made the dance seem choppy. Also, a lot of the transitions were awful, which made the dance seem heavy as opposed to the light look we should see with the waltz. This is a usually romantic dance, and at times I believed the romance, but overall this dance was not all that great.
9) Kathryn and Legacy danced a hip hop routine choreographed by Dave Scott. This performance was humorous in that it had a caveman theme and because of this it was an entertaining piece. I expected Legacy to do well in this style, but I was impressed by how well Kathryn performed. I think the best word to describe the good dancing done in this routine is precise.
10) Mollee and Nathan are paired up and for their first dance performed a disco routine choreographed by Doriana. Before I talk about the performance, I want to speak my peace about these two right off the bat: How can the judges talk about how Mollee needs to dance older than she is and then pair her with the youngest guy? Pairing the two youngest contestants together does not make much sense to me. Anyway, this dance, as per usual with disco, was turbo speed. The pair had good energy throughout and there were a lot of cool lift tricks in the dance, but at times Mollee was all over the place. There were a lot of choppy transitions and at times Mollee was shaky on her feet. I was disappointed with the judges. Yes, it was a fun routine, but they did not critique the actual dancing.

Now onto the bottom dancers: The judges decided Ariana, Brandon, Pauline and Russell were the night's weakest dancers, and each had to dance for their life. In their solos, I thought Ariana was too frantic in her movement; Russell is so crazy good at krumping it is impressive; Pauline had a pretty good solo; and Brandon's solo was odd for a break dancer. In the end, the judges sent Ariana and Brandon home, which was good because I really didn't think Russell even deserved to be in the bottom. As for Brandon, Nigel said he is going to look into changing the rules for him so that he is eligible to be in the top 20 in future years.

Now that we have one week of competition behind us, do you have any early favorites? Who do you think stood out as wonderful and who floundered? Leave it here.

Castle: Jumping in on the vampire craze

Castle's Halloween episode, which aired Monday night, featured a vampire twist that fit in wonderfully with the vampire-mania that has caught the attention of the public during recent months. I know people who have never watched the show, but watched this episode because of the vampire previews, and who now swear they are going to follow the show because it is so funny and entertaining. I don't really have much more to say, other than that I liked the episode and appreciate that there are always so many twists in Castle episodes, which keeps the show from ever being predictable.

OTH: "Truth is the best vindication against slander"

Four main storylines came to a head during Monday's One Tree Hill episode that was all about love and happiness. Below is a recap of the action.

- Brooke is still mad at Julian, mostly because he insists on working with Alex even though he knows Brooke does not trust her. Brooke even tells Julian she wanted to marry him - past tense - and Julian reassures Brooke that he wants to be with her forever.
- Through flashes of memories and the past, we get a small glimpse into Quinn and David's life. We see that at one point in their relationship they were really happy and really loved one another. But in multiple flashes we see Quinn pointing out and saying to David that he needs to be happy. We see that David wants success and is willing to put his dreams on hold for financial security, which pisses off Quinn who doesn't want things to change. Even after seeing moments from their past, I do not fully understand why Quinn feels the way she does. I think this is all the explanation we are going to be given, but honestly I think Quinn is making up this change that she thinks broke apart her marriage.
- We also learn that (no surprise here) Clay's ex-wife Sara is actually a ghost who died recently. We see a bit of their history - also through flashes of their past - and realize that they really loved one another. When Sara died suddenly, it left Clay feeling like a piece of him was missing. We now also understand his womanizer ways; Clay is afraid to let another woman into his life because he thinks he would be erasing Sara. But at the end of the episode Sara gives Clay permission to move on and be happy, and hopefully he will take this to heart.
- This episode was judgment day for Nathan. Renee appeared on Dan's show and the truth was finally going to come out. During the show we see flashes of the party, as seen through Renee's eyes, and we realize that she is fabricating the flirtation. The show is live, so when Dan tells Renee they are going to perform a lie detector test, she seems a little weirded out, but she agrees. The lie detector says she is not lying when she answered the question about sleeping with Nathan, but then Dan hooks himself up to the lie detector to show that it was rigged. Then, through Dan's persuasion, Renee admits it was all a lie and agrees to drop it all.

One side note: when they showed the scar on Dan's chest, are we supposed to assume that means he got his heart transplant? Did we know this? Or is he lying about it? Someone please remind me if you know.

I enjoyed this James Lafferty-directed episode for its artfulness and appreciate that it tied up some loose ends. But who wants to guess that the real father of Renee's baby is actually Clay? I feel like that is the next appropriate jump. We'll have to wait and see though.

As for next week's episode, it looks like a fun one: The men go camping and leave the women to have a girls night. We need some funny following a few weeks of heavy stuff. I'm looking forward to laughing with these characters. Until then...

GG: A night no one will ever forget

Here is the link to the New York Magazine Daily Intel reality index link and below are a few of my own additions as well as a few other thoughts.

- When Blair left Serena's office and said she was going home, how could Serena have been stupid enough to believe that she was really going to stay out of Chuck's business. Sometimes I think Serena has never actually met Blair. Minus four.
- Only on television shows do people pretend to be sick so they don't have to see someone and then that someone shows up on their doorstep with soup. Minus two because, though Olivia brought Dan soup, that doesn't happen in real life.

Serena says she won't forgive Blair, but how long do you think that will last? A day? Maybe two? They are so immature sometimes.

I don't even know what else to say about this episode. While it was entertaining, it still amazes me how conniving the characters are. While I love the drama, at what point are these teenagers going to be able to just live life without hierarchy, backstabbing, etcetera?

SYTYCD: Warm-up special

Though while this special So You Think You Can Dance episode was being promoted, I assumed the top 20 dancers were going to be performing their solos as a way to showcase their talent, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the dancers were put into small groups and choreographed in their own genres. There was no pressure and it was pre-competition so the dancers were able to have fun. But that doesn't mean they didn't work hard. As Adam pointed out, this show is about improving, but following the amazing performances from last night, how do dancers improve upon perfection? Everyone danced so well, meaning this promises to be a wonderful season full of impressive dancing. Anyway, here is a recap of the dances from last night's episode.

1) Group dance: choreographed by Wade Robson
This performance was set up like a turf war with small groups within the larger group competing with one another. It was a smooth and sexy routine that did not disappoint. It was very entertaining.
2) Hip hop dancers (Russell, Legacy, Kevin): choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon
This was a high energy dance that included tons of trick and showcased the very talented hip hop men from this season.
3) Contemporary (Channing, Nathan, Ariana, Jakob): Tyce choreographed
This dance was emotional and powerful and Tyce's choreography was amazing.
4) Tappers (Peter, Bianca, Phillip): new choreographer Derick Grant
This was a more classy tap performance and less action packed than I was expecting, but it was still pretty good. That said, I agree that it is going to be difficult for the tappers to get votes. Also, there were times when the camera did not show the dancer's feet! There are always camera problems on SYTYCD, but this is unacceptable. Nigel also points out that these three dancers are going to be expected to dance in other styles, but no one on the show is going to have to struggle in their tap genre. It almost puts the tappers at a slight disadvantage. We'll see how they do.
5) Jazz dancers (Mollee, Pauline, Ellenore): Sonya choreographed
Throughout the dance these three were so in sync and it was an entertaining performance.
6) Contemporary (Victor, Noelle, Billy, Kathryn): Mandy choreographed
There were lots of lifts and kicks in this routine and it was very fast paced and technically difficult. But they all pulled together and performed beautifully.
7) Latin/ballroom dancers (Karen, Ashleigh, Ryan): Jason Gilkinson choreographed this samba routine
This was a hot hot hot dance that helped me remember how sexy and wonderful ballroom dancing is when it is done well.

In more SYTYCD news, two dancers are unable to perform in tonight's first live episode, during which two dancers are going to be sent home. The full story is here, but from what I can tell, Billy Bell has permanently withdrawn from the competition because he has mono and Noelle will be unable to perform tonight because of an ankle injury. Noelle will be given one week to recuperate, as stated in the SYTYCD rules, but if she is unable to return next week, she will be out of the competition. In the meantime, hip hop dancer Brandon Dumlao will replace Billy and we'll have to see how Noelle's absence will be handled tonight.

Tree Hill preview

Embedded below is a video sneak peek from One Tree Hill executive producer Mark Schwahn who wrote tonight's episode and promises it is an emotional one. After watching this interview I cannot wait to watch what is to come and I only hope I am not disappointed. I think it will include the information we have been needing so that we can better understand the motivations of some of the characters and I hope from here the storylines can move forward. Watch and let me know if you agree that you are intrigued.

Private Practice: "Sometimes even when we mean well we end up hurting other people"

Here is a brief synopsis of last night's Private Practice.

- Sam admits he misses the adrenaline of surgery and though Addison doubts him at first, Sam steps up when needed and performs surgery on a little boy that ultimately saves his life.
- Violet, when around Lucas, does not even look at him. She acts like the baby is not even there. Pete is trying to force Violet to bond with the baby, but it is clear it is not working. So, with Sheldon's help, Pete realizes that he not only cannot bring the baby around, but that Violet cannot even see him. So Pete takes a job working downstairs with Naomi as a way to put space between Pete and Lucas and Violet.
- Dell is back at work but it is clear he is on edge. After yelling at a patient about how she needs to be more calm, Dell realizes he is not adjusting as well as he would like to being a single father and that when he yelled at his patient, he was really yelling at Betsy who he needs to be more patient.
- The doctors have decided to not replace Naomi and instead are all going to buy her shares and become equal partners in the practice. Everyone seems to be OK with this idea, that is except Cooper who seems freaked by the idea of having to pay $50,000. Cooper eventually confronts Addison, telling her she needs to be more sensitive because not everyone has that kind of money. Cooper even talks to Charlotte about the problem, admitting that he is broke because he is a right now guy who does not save money. So Charlotte writes Addison a check for Cooper and also gives Addison a blank check, asking to become a part of the practice.
- Violet is counseling a rape victim and her husband. When the victim finds out she is pregnant and that the baby is the rapist's, the husband immediately tells her to get an abortion. But the mother does not want to. Then Violet talks to the victim alone and talks about how every time she sees the baby she will think of the rape. Violet calls this an unbearable pain and it is then that the audience realizes what is truly wrong with Violet. Lucas is a constant reminder of what Katie did to her, just like the blood stain that won't come out of the floor in her living room. Until the stain is removed, Violet will not be able to move on. At the end of the episode, Cooper reiterates that things are going to get better, but all Violet wants to know is when because it does not seem to be happening quickly enough.

The preview for next week shows that Violet is going to have to take the stand and relive her experience at Katie's trial. It promises to be a heartbreaking and emotional episode.

Grey's: "We look at the patient from every possible angle"

The theme of last night's Grey's Anatomy episode was the importance of looking at things with a fresh perspective. And this was fitting since the story of the episode was told in a different way. Instead of a usual character-centric episode, this episode was more action-centric, based on one event and seen through multiple people's eyes.

During a mass casualty - a fire at a hotel - all of the doctors were scattered and working on multiple patients, but when a patient who came in with minor injuries dies, someone has to be held responsible. So the chief and a few board members talk with all of the doctors and relive the day from the beginning. We see events multiple times, through different perspectives, as the chief tries to piece together what happened. As for the patient, no one took sole responsibility for her care because her injuries seemed minor; They kept passing her off as more interesting cases and more injured patients were brought in.

By the end of the episode we find out that the initial doctor who checked her vitals missed a step and didn't check her throat, which if she had, the woman would not have died. This doctor, who was a Mercy West transfer, was fired on the spot even though she is a good doctor. Cristina, while talking with some of the other doctors who worked on the patient, recognizes that it could have been any of them who made the simple mistake and got fired so they should not be so happy with the outcome.

In other happenings: Meredith was discharged from the hospital; Alex tried multiple times to get in touch with Izzie and when he finally does she says she may not be coming home; Derek confronts the chief about who is really to blame about the death since it is easily noticeable that there is chaos in the ER since the merger because there are too many doctors who do not trust one another.

I really enjoyed this episode that strayed from the normal Grey's formula. I hope to see more episodes like this one as the show tries to find its footing with new characters as well as the absence of some fan favorites.

Which TV characters annoy you?

The Globe's Matthew Gilbert put together this slideshow of TV's most annoying characters. While I agree with a few, especially Mischa Barton when she was on The OC, I find Jennifer Aniston's Rachel on Friends endearing and not annoying. And if I had to add a few of my own, I would definitely add Jenny from Gossip Girl. Any others you would have included?

I guess I'm not the only one over Dollhouse

This just in: Dollhouse will not be a part of Fox's November sweeps schedule. Instead of airing episodes of Dollhouse, Fox has opted to air reruns of Bones and House. Then, on three Fridays in December, Fox will air two hour blocks of Dollhouse. Not that I'm one to stay in on Friday nights anyway, but two hours during December when I will most likely be out holiday shopping? I have already stopped, but now it is even less likely anyone will watch.

DWTS Michael Jackson tribute

For those who missed it, embedded below is the Michael Jackson tribute the professional dancers performed during Tuesday night's Dancing with the Stars result show. It was awesome, especially the Thriller part at the end. Take a few minutes and enjoy.

Glee: "Welcome to the new world order"

I have said it multiple times and I will repeat myself - Glee completes my week. And last night's episode did not disappoint, especially when we got to see Will dance in two hip hop performances. Below is a short recap of the episode, which featured a few pretty entertaining song and dance routines.

- Sue is asked on a date by the local news anchor and quickly finds herself in love with him. We then see a completely different Sue - one who is not mean, but instead oddly nice. She even takes dance lessons with Will as a way to impress her new boyfriend. But then she finds the boyfriend making out with his co-anchor and he turns to her and says, you didn't think we were exclusive, did you? Sue finds herself with a broken heart and turns back into her mean self. She even storms up to Quinn and kicks her off the cheerios, which upsets Quinn, until she is reminded that her friends on glee will not turn their backs on her.
- Emma and Ken's wedding continues to take form and should be awarded as the most unconventional wedding in the history of weddings. And when the couple approaches Will to ask for dance lessons, things only get weirder. Ken wants their wedding song to be The Thong Song. Regardless, Will says he will make it work and gives Emma lessons as his wedding gift to them. That is when Ken sees them together and snaps. Ken knows Emma is settling with him, but Will needs to discourage Emma because otherwise she is always going to want to be with him.
- Puck begins showing interest in Rachel when he realizes it will please his mother if he dated a Jewish girl. So the two become an item, even though Rachel is not all that into him at the beginning. But then Rachel breaks up with him because she knows they both want to be with other people - her with Finn and Puck with Quinn.
- This was the episode of the slushie war. We have seen Rachel gets slushies thrown in her face, but at the top of this episode we see Finn slushied. Glee makes you unpopular, so the king and queen of the school - Quinn and Finn - find themselves no longer cool. (They even go to Emma for advice in a funny scene where she covers her own thoughts by telling them to wear sunglasses to be cool.) The football team is even rebelling against Finn because they want him to quit glee. Then Ken institutes a new practice schedule - one that conflicts with glee's schedule - and makes practice mandatory, thus forcing the kids on both teams to choose. If all of the guys do not choose glee, then they cannot compete. When the time comes, everyone but Finn chooses glee. But then Will talks with Finn, saying Finn reminds him of himself and that he belongs in glee. So Finn goes to Ken and gives a speech about how he sees a future where glee is cool. In the end, the guys are allowed to stay a part of both teams.

Because of longer So You Think You Can Dance episodes and baseball playoffs, Glee will not air a new episode for a few weeks. I'm already having withdrawals. But as for some good news to keep us happy, according to this news, Madonna has opened up her music catalog to the show so we can expect a few Madonna songs/performances in the near future.

SVU fights Our Special Love

During last night's Law & Order: SVU, the detectives take down an agency called Our Special Love, which specializes in the protection of the true love between children and adults. Essentially, this organization based itself on the belief that pedophilia is a type of sexuality like heterosexuality or homosexuality. As pointed out by the detectives and doctors during the trial, the man who was being charged was presenting himself as the victim who was being prosecuted for doing something normal. When a guilty verdict was found at the end, I was relieved. But the episode did what most SVU episodes do for me, it made me think. I'm not sure OSL is an actual organization (I was too scared to even Google it), but the fact that there are people who think like this in the world makes me sick. How can we protect children when there are support groups like this one? I only hope the message of the episode last night made people stop and think about the importance of protecting children from sexual abuse.

SYTYCD: Meet the Season 6 top 20!

Monday there will be a special episode of So You Think You Can Dance where the top 20 dancers will all get to perform in their own specialty as a way to introduce themselves to the audience. From there, the real competition begins Tuesday night. I cannot wait!

Big Bang: "When does this get fun?"

During this episode we find out that Sheldon has an incredible memory that he uses to remember random events/thoughts. He even uses it as an advantage in card games. So during the episode he plays in a competition to get revenge on an enemy. He ends up feeling sympathetic for hating the man, playing poorly on purpose, only to find that the man was playing him and Sheldon quickly lost the game.

In other happenings, Howard wants Leonard to get Penny to set him up with one of her hot friends. Penny reluctantly follows through and at first the date goes painfully bad. Then they awkwardly bond over their overprotective mothers and all ends well.

90210: "It's the only way you're gonna feel better"

Here are a few quick plot points that need to be recapped from Tuesday's 90210.

-Liam meets the new girl, Ivy, and while at first all they do is fight about how annoying each finds the other, by the end of the episode it is obvious that there are sparks between them.
- At the beginning of the episode Naomi is still pretending to date the dean's son while actually crushing on his roommate. But after seeing Liam with another girl, Naomi realizes that she will never be able to get over Liam if she is in a pretend relationship. So she dumps the fake boyfriend and begins dating Jamie.
- Deb and Harry are still fighting about Kelly and by the time the episode ends, things are even worse than they were at the beginning.
- Annie and Jasper are now an official couple and in the opening scenes they are all lovey-dovey with one another. Then he pressures her into doing something that she knows is wrong - "steal" a car - and it made me wonder whether he may actually be a bad guy.
- Silver hates Teddy and we all know this. But when Teddy finds out Silver's mom is dying, he reaches out to her. His mother died a few years earlier and he knows what she is going through. The two then bond, mostly because Silver realizes he may not be as bad a guy as she once thought.
- Sasha and Dixon are still together, but she forces him to hide their relationship. She even gets mad when he chooses to do something with his friends instead of with her. So Dixon breaks up with her because they cannot get on the same page. Then, at the end of the episode, she announces that she is pregnant.

Two things: 1) I don't for one second believe Sasha is pregnant. During this episode she proved she is a bit psycho and I think this is a drastic stunt to keep Dixon from leaving her. 2) Isn't Teddy some tennis star? Would they really let him be on his high school surf team and risk injury? I think not.

That said, this episode was entertaining. I just wish we would see the last of Jasper because he creeps me out. Until next time...

Castle: Can you feel the tension now?

Castle finds out that he is being considered as the next author to write books for the James Bond series. He loves the series and it would be an honor to write the novels, but it would mean giving up on the Nikki Heat series. At work later that day, Castle starts to doubt he helpfulness when the detectives seem to be doing well on their case without him. Once he is offered the Bond series, Castle seriously considers taking it, even though it means walking away from Beckett. But then he learns that his publisher is willing to pay him much more than the Bond publishers will to write three more Nikki Heat books. And, just when Beckett thought she was getting rid of him, her boss reminds her that it means a lot to the mayor that she continue to cooperate with Castle while he does research.

One side thought: During the scene at the book launch party, where Beckett and Castle are fighting about what decision he should make, I so badly wanted them to kiss.

Also, in case you haven't heard, Castle has been picked up for the entire season so we can expect quite a few more new episodes.

OTH: Everyone seems to be in a downward spiral

Here is a short recap of this week's One Tree Hill.

- Julian and Alex are spending a lot of time together, which of course Brooke doesn't like. When he reads her script rewrite, he is honestly shocked, as in impressed, by her. In other Brulian news, Brooke sees Chace and wants to use him to help her as she starts a men's clothing line. When Julian finds out, he gets jealous. But after talking to Mia, they realize it is harmless. At the end of the episode though, after finding out that Alex stripped down naked in front of Julian, Brooke fires Alex and banishes Julian to sleep on the couch.
- Millie once again spent the entire night out partying with Alex. Then, when Brooke announces that Millie is no longer her assistant, but only a model, Millie starts wondering if she truly wants to be a model. Her doubt is coming mostly from her fear that she is not beautiful enough, and at the end of the episode we see Millie taking diet pills. Earlier in the episode we also saw her choose not to eat. It seems like Millie may be very close to having an eating disorder in order to look how she thinks a model is supposed to look.
- Because of the scandal surrounding his life, Nathan is losing his endorsement deals and his contract negotiations have slowed. This is on the news radar and when Mouth talks to Nate about it, Nathan tells Mouth to do the story to save his career. It seems like this is Mouth's intent, but while on air, Mouth stands up for Nathan and demonizes the news station for wanting to report on rumors. Then Mouth walks out feeling empowered.
- In other Nathan news, him and Hailey talk about the option of paying Renee the money she requested to get her out of their lives, but Nathan refuses because it then seems like he is admitting guilt. But Hailey calls Renee herself and seriously considers paying. In the end she doesn't go through with it, but does tell Nathan that she could not live with herself if he were to lose basketball.
- As for Renee, Dan wants her to go on his show and tell her side of the story, which he believes is the truth. Dan wants to support Renee and make Nathan admit to his mistake and take responsibility. At the end of the episode, Renee agrees to be on the show.

As pointed out by Nate, he is oh so close to being his father. After all these years trying to separate himself from Dan, if the affair turns out to be true, Nathan is doing exactly what Dan did - turn his back on his child. This is even more reason for me to hope that the baby is not his and that it is all part of an elaborate scheme planned by Renee.

GG: All Vanessa really wants is her parents' approval

I have to admit that this week's Gossip Girl episode was rather entertaining mostly because of Vanessa and Blair's scheming. Here is the link to the New York Magazine Daily Intel reality index blog post and below are a few of my own additions.

- Plus 10 for bringing to light/reminded us of Blair's obsession with Audrey Hepburn. This plays a very large role in many of the books and I liked being reminded that the books are not completely forgotten when the show is written.
- I don't really believe the Buckley's would force Carter to work off his debt on an oil rig. Minus five because beating him up and exiling him seems more realistic.
- While talking with Dan, both Vanessa and Jenny say they think Olivia is easy going. Minus two because, first of all, have they met her? And, secondly, she's a movie star.
- I never believed Carter really loved Serena, but minus two because even if he didn't want her to feel sorry for him, he wouldn't have willingly chosen to perform slave labor for the next 10 years.

Blair quote of the night (though there were quite a few front runners): "You're supposed to say everything is going to be all right! Where did you learn how to give a pep talk, Guantánamo?"

As always feel free to leave comments about parts of the episode you found realistic or unrealistic. And until next time, you know you love me.

New Celebrity Apprentice cast revealed

Here are the "celebrities" who will be appearing on the next season of the Celebrity Apprentice.

- Ozzy's wife Sharon Osbourne
- singer Cyndi Lauper
- singer Bret Michaels
- former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich
- comedian Sinbad
-
actress Holly Robinson Peete
- baseball player Darryl Strawberry
- wrestler Goldberg
- wrestler Maria Kanellis
- Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders
- television chef Curtis Stone
- comedian Carol Leifer

No one too famous this time around. Also, it seems like Sharon Osbourne is a shoe-in to win. I hope the show impresses, but so far the cast falls a bit short.

From James Lafferty's mouth, to your eyes

TvGuide.com has this Q & A with One Tree Hill star James Lafferty. He answers questions about his love child, being on the show post Lucas and Peyton, Dan's marriage to Rachel, etcetera. Also, the episode that airs Oct. 26 is directed by him so another Q & A will be posted following that episode. Check back for that in the coming weeks.

Private Practice: "Bailey is here"

As a continuation of the Grey's episode that aired before it, Bailey is in LA to get a kidney for the patient who lost her chance when Izzie drained her body of potassium. And accompanying her arrival is drama. Here is a short recap of what happened on tonight's episode.

- On a personal note, when Bailey first arrives she dishes to Addison about what has been happening in Seattle and then goes on to talk about how there is no joy in her life and how she lives in a world where all the glasses are half empty. But back to the case she is working on. The patient wants to take a kidney from her sister, but then the doctors figure out that the sister is HIV positive, which makes the surgery illegal. But the patient says she would rather have AIDS than die, so Bailey decides she still wants to go through with the surgery. She gets Charlotte to OK it, and even Sam signs on to scrub in, so they do it.
- Violet is back at work, though I doubt she is ready to be. But she insists that her work is all she has so she needs to be there. When Sheldon visits to welcome her back, she tells him she gave the baby to Pete and he freaks since there is still a chance the baby is his. This is when Sheldon demands a paternity test. Violet consents, but Pete initially refuses. From there Violet wants Pete and Sheldon to work it out. Pete later tells Addison he considered taking the baby and moving to Mexico, but they both know he will do the right thing. In the end, they find out that Pete is the father.
- Noah's wife, Morgan, shows up at the practice and asks Addison if she slept with Noah. Addison tells her no, which is the truth, and Morgan leaves. The next day Morgan returns and she tells Addison talking to her made things worse because she thinks she could have gotten over them having sex but now she knows it was more - they were in love - and she does not think she can recover her marriage after that.
- Cooper is caring for a 16 year old boy who was born with no immune system and has to live in an enclosed, clean environment. There is a dance coming up and he wants to go so he can kiss his girlfriend. While working on this case, Cooper remembers how important a connection and talking is to a relationship and he hates that his relationship with Charlotte is once again all about sex. At the end of the episode he literally sweeps Charlotte off her feet and tells her she is moving in with him. He takes their relationship into his own hands and, acts so romantically, she cannot refuse.
- At the very end of the episode, we see Addison and Naomi reconcile so maybe now things will return to normal with them.

Grey's: "We own this hospital"

From the moment the Mercy West employees arrive, they are seen as invaders and intruders, but what is forgotten is that in the end they all need to work together or else the patients suffer, which is what happened in a few cases tonight. The new and old doctors steal each other's patients, fight to answer questions, show up others, try to find the other's weak spots, make others look like idiots, etcetera. And, because the Mercy West doctors are wearing orange scrubs instead of the normal blue, you immediately know for which team you are supposed to play. But some of the patients are aware of the doctors competing and notice that because of the feud, the patients are not getting the care they deserve. So, while more doctors should mean better care, in this case it is the opposite.

Anyway, here is a bit about other stuff that happened on tonight's episode.

- In an odd turn of events, Meredith, who is still recovering from her surgery last week, is the one who is keeping everyone positive throughout the merger. Usually a pessimist, she's the one who reminds the doctors that they deserve to be there and should show the Mercy West doctors who owns the hospital.
- Callie's father shows up at the hospital with the family priest hoping to talk Callie into not being gay. Arizona points out that Callie is the one who changed the game by becoming something no one expected, and Callie agrees to talk with her father. But things do not go well and Callie ends up disowning him because he should not even consider turning his back on her. Arizona then talks to Callie's dad about her own experience with her family when she came out and she helps him realize that he has to show her he still loves her, which he does.
- In a scene between Izzie and one of the new doctors, the new doctor explained to Izzie how at Mercy West each doctor looks out for themselves. He even says that the doctors may be friends outside of work, but are not friends while at work. This seems kind of shocking since at Seattle Grace it is the complete opposite, and Izzie says this. She tells him how at their hospital the doctors look out for the whole and support one another.
- Cristina breaks down to Meredith and admits she misses Burke, not because she loved him, but because with him around she had the opportunity to learn and grow as a doctor. She also admits that she now feels invisible at work, which must be an awful feeling.
- Izzie made a stupid mistake with a patient, giving her too much medicine, and Bailey blames this on the fact that she was probably too distracted trying to show off in front of the new doctors. This mistake may lead to the patient's death, but it definitely led to Izzie being fired from the hospital. The chief announced the removal after the mistake and said other doctors have voiced their concern about her returning to work. While it was understood that she wouldn't take this news well, what she did was unexpected: She wrote Alex a note telling him she was leaving him. And that was that.

DWTS plans Jackson tribute

Even though So You Think You Can Dance was denied the rights to put together an episode in honor of Michael Jackson, Dancing with the Stars will pay tribute to the late performer during their Macy's Stars of Dance segment on Tuesday's results show. I enjoyed the Patrick Swayze tribute put together by the pros earlier in the season, so I am expecting greatness from this one as well.

Fan favorite, award-winning choreographer quits SYTYCD

In a move I don't think anyone saw coming, contemporary choreographer Mia Michaels has quit So You Think You Can Dance. No word yet on why or what she plans to do instead, but I think I speak for most fans when I say that she will be missed. Her routines always pleased and she was a breath of fresh air, with her highly original choreography. In last night's episode, which featured her choreography, numerous dancers spoke about how they looked forward most to her routine and how they learned the most from her. This is a sad moment for the show and I miss her already.

SVU: "The memory never formed and maybe it never will"

Tonight's Law & Order: SVU episode discussed two issues that usually lead to people having strong opinions: abortion and whether or not alcoholism is a disease. While I would love to preach my beliefs on these two topics, I'll pass. Instead, I will say that this episode was a pretty great one. While the abortion topic was only a part of the show for a few minutes, alcoholism was there for a while. And, in the end, an unlikely character was found disputing alcoholism while also hiding behind it.

Glee: "It's glee club, not crunk club"

A few thoughts before I recap tonight's Glee episode:

1) I was sad that there was no Emma this week.
2) Did anyone notice the shaky camera in a few scenes tonight? It was a bit distracting.
3) I loved that there were lots of performances in the episode. And I haven't been noticing the lip syncing as much as I did the first few episodes. I just find the performances entertaining now.
4) The random Asian dancer has a name and it's Mike. We also learn that he is great at popping and locking.

This week Sue takes on being glee club's co-director, which leads to Will acting crazy. In front of the principal Sue and Will pretend to be all buddy/buddy. But in reality, they are each willing to sink really low to win the battle they are engaged in: Sue tries to convince the glee members that Will is racist, while Will begins failing the cheerios so that they are ineligible to cheer. In the end, Sue steps down, but not before numerous hysterical scenes between her and Will.

In other happenings, Will tells Terri he wants a more active role in her pregnancy so Terri and her sister blackmail the doctor into playing along with Terri's fake pregnancy; Rachel steps up and agrees to go to extreme lengths to keep Quinn's pregnancy a secret, telling people it is because she is looking out for Quinn when really she has her feelings for Finn to blame; Quinn is extremely jealous of Finn and Rachel, which is understandable because they obviously have chemistry, but how can she be jealous after she cheated?; the news about Quinn's pregnancy is now common knowledge and even Sue knows.

I find myself looking forward to this show each week. Just today I remembered it was Wednesday and that the show was on and it brought a smile to my face. This is by far my favorite new show this season. That said, from the preview, next week's episode looks really funny. I'm already excited.

SYTYCD: Vegas week continues

At the top of tonight's So You Think You Can Dance Vegas week episode, the remaining contestants were broken into groups and told to choreograph and practice through the night to be prepared to perform for the judges in the morning. While the clips from this part of the audition phase are usually the best, things were not as dramatic as usual this year. I was almost disappointed when few groups failed miserably.

During this episode we also saw some dancers breaking from the pressure of the week. We saw grown men crying and tons of dancers talking about how overwhelmed they were. Some dancers even talked about how their time during Vegas week was life changing. I remember what it feels like to perform and I wish I could know what a week of experiences similar to that feels like.

At the end of the episode, and the end of Vegas week, 38 dancers were given one last shot to impress the judges by performing in their own genre. Some of the solos actually brought the judges to tears and Mia has already proclaimed that this season's contestants will blow season five out of the water.

Next week we find out who is in the top 20 and then the live shows start. And even though this really isn't anytime soon because baseball playoffs will put it off for a while, I already cannot wait.

Big Bang Theory: "I swear to cow"

This week's Big Bang Theory definitely delivered numerous laughs. For someone who sometimes chuckles during shows, but rarely laughs out loud, I laughed out loud probably four or five times during this episode - it was that funny! I suggest watching if you have not yet. For those interested, here is a recap of the premise.

To ward off possible deportation, Raj has to find a new job. After a failed attempt, Sheldon comes up with a possible solution and offers Raj a job working for him (not with him). Also, Raj being busy working for Sheldon leaves Howard with a lot of free time, so he starts crowding Penny and Leonard, which makes for some uncomfortable moments.

Honestly, this is an episode to watch.

90210: "Just because someone's sick doesn't change the past"

Some of the characters on 90210 faced major life changes this week and we'll have to wait and see how they adapt to them. For now, here is a rundown of this week's action.

- Annie and Jasper seem to be getting along well. That is, until Mark, the guy who took the sext, gets involved and tells Annie Jasper is psycho. For whatever reason she believes him and blows off Jasper. She then goes on a romantic picnic with Mark. They drink some wine and things gets intense, so much so that it seems like Mark was ready to rape Annie, who kept telling him to stop, but Jasper comes to the rescue. He beats up Mark and later goes even further to get revenge by slashing his tires.
- Jen, who is even more of a bitch than usual in this episode, tells Naomi she is starting her divorce and needs hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay the lawyer so she gets a large settlement in the end. Jen once again guilts Naomi into giving her the money but we soon see that she isn't using it for her divorce, but to buy a racehorse she thinks is going to win her tons of money.
- Silver tells Kelly about their mother having cancer. Kelly says she is sorry their mom is sick, but that she really just doesn't want to go back and take the chance that they will be sucked back into her drama; Essentially, Kelly is willing to just ignore that her mother is dying, while Silver is not as heartless. So Silver starts spending time with her mom. When Kelly finds this out, she visits and tells their mom to stay away from Silver. This pisses Silver off. Kelly says she is trying to protect Silver because she is bipolar and can't handle intense situations, while everything with their mother is intense, but Silver says she is an adult and should be able to make her own decisions. In the end, Silver decides to move back into their mother's house.
- Navid notices that things are off with Adrianna, but he in no way is prepared for her to break up with him, which she does. Adrianna says she wants time to be alone so she can figure out who she is now that her life has changed so much. But she goes home and immediately texts Teddy. She then spends a romantic day at the beach with Teddy. (As a side note, shouldn't she have been worried about who sees her with another man so soon after breaking up with Navid?) But when Adrianna talks about her desire to keep their "relationship" a secret for a while, Teddy announces that he is not a relationship guy. This is when Adrianna realizes that she threw away a loving relationship with Navid for a fling with a guy who will never commit. Adrianna, with Naomi's help, then convinces herself that she can win Navid back, but by the time she talks to Navid, he already knows about her fling with Teddy so he refuses to take her back.

In other happenings: Dixon and Sasha are still sleeping together; Ryan hates that Jen is seeing other men and goes out drinking with Harry to try to pick up women; Harry goes home drunk and calls his wife Kelly; and Kelly is avoiding Harry.

OTH: When will Dan learn to mind his own business?

Here is a recap of last night's One Tree Hill.

- Hailey is arrested for assault following last week when she slapped the woman accusing Nathan of an affair. While in jail, the other women in the holding cell make Hailey start doubting Nathan because they all keep talking about how men always cheat. Then, when Renee comes to visit Hailey to announce that she is dropping the charges, she talks about how Nathan did what he did, which is out of character for him, because he was so drunk. She also tells Hailey to check his cell phone records and her phone number will be there. Hailey brushes this off, but once home Nathan realizes that she is the one person he needs to believe him and she is starting to doubt his word. Clay wants Nathan to hold a press conference and though Hailey originally wanted nothing to do with it, she shows up and stands by his side because they need to be together always. But after promising she believes Nathan, Hailey looks through his phone records and finds Renee's phone number.
- Brooke is worried about Julian working with Alex on the script and Alex proves Brooke right. While Julian is trying to work, Alex decides stripping down will better prove her point. But this only leads to Julian leaving because she is not taking their work seriously. Brooke later goes to Alex and reprimands her for ruining her chances. So Alex goes to Julian dressed professionally and with her serious attitude speech and begs for another chance, which he gives her.
- Millie spent all night out partying with Alex, which worries Mouth. Also in Millie news, Brooke asks her to become a permanent model now that they have decided to make Zero is Not a Size its own line. Meanwhile, Mouth has been demoted and really just wants to talk to Millie, but she keeps blowing him off. Mouth is worried that the modeling culture will be too much for Millie and doesn't want her to agree to be a model. He also voices his worries that Alex is a bad influence on Millie. But in the end, Millie decides she does want to model, which makes Brooke happy but will surely disappoint Mouth.
- Quinn spent the night at Clay's and at first we think they are sleeping together but by the end of the episode we learn that though they are letting everyone think this is true, they are actually not sleeping together. Clay is only trying to support Quinn during her rocky relationship with David.

At the very end of the episode we see Dan and Renee together. While for now it is unclear whether he is just now getting involved or was the person who initially orchestrated this entire lie, the fact that he is involved at all is bad news. We'll have to wait until next week to find out his actual involvement.

New 'Parent' in the 'Hood'

NBC has been searching for a new star for the show Parenthood ever since Maura Tierney pulled out of the project to focus on her battle with breast cancer. While it was rumored Helen Hunt was the likely choice, it has been announced that Lauren Graham, best know for her role as Lorelai Gilmore on the CW's Gilmore Girls, has been hired as the replacement. I was sad when Tierney announced she wouldn't be on the show, but I think Graham also has a lot to offer. I think she will bring a great sense of humor to the show and this further makes me want to watch the show, which will begin its season sometime this winter.

Castle: "I killed him. ... In my mind."

Three things about last night's episode:

1) The line that I used as the title of this post was the best part of the episode. It was so weird yet really funny.
2) The message of the episode, which centered around a murdered con man, was that what you see is not always what you get. While this is a boring theme, it was funnily approached and worked well.
3) There was a lot more sexual tension than normal between Castle and Beckett this week. I loved the teasing between them about whether or not Beckett has read Heat Wave.

GG takes a leap of faith

Here is the New York Magazine Daily Intel reality index link and below are a few additions as well as a few other thoughts.

- I love that Eric and Jenny get Dan to think Vanessa loves him. And, plus three because of course Dan would believe them and give an awkward speech in which Vanessa tells him he is insane for thinking this.
- What qualifies Serena to give advice about writing wedding vows? Minus only two because, no matter what crappy luck she has with guys, I'm assuming she has been to tons of weddings.
- While I'm glad she is gone, there is no way Georgina would have just gotten on a plane with some guy only because he said he is a prince. Minus only one because, at the same time, the fact that Darota plotted this makes it wonderful.
- Scott finally tells the truth and then says he is going back to Boston to figure out his life. But he tells Dan he might be back for the holidays. Minus five because I find it hard to believe that after all this time, which included stalking Rufus, he is now just going to go back home and pretend things are normal.
- Minus 10 for the puss Carter always has on his face.

So what did you think of the episode? I'm not sure I liked the whole rushed wedding, but I guess I do appreciate that Lily and Rufus are now married. Otherwise, I liked the episode.

Private Practice: "A bad thing happened and you can't change that"

This episode picked up one month after Violet's attack and we find her is pretty bad shape - she's jumpy, afraid of the doorbell, hides in the closet, refuses to go outside, doesn't want to hold the baby, etc. Pete has been staying with Violet and helping her with things, but it is during this time that he realizes he is not truly helping her so he tells her he is moving back to his house as a way to force her to stand on her own two feet. Violet later opens up to Charlotte about how she feels no connection to the baby and that she is not ready to deal with the responsibilities of being a mother. At the end of the episode Violet shows up at Pete's door with the baby and tells him she is being a good mother. Her way of caring for the baby is letting him go so she leaves him with Pete and walks away.

Other happenings: Naomi is realizing that there is less of a family environment at her new practice; Cooper still blames himself for the attack and keeps putting off visiting Violet; Cooper accuses Charlotte of being heartless, which is the same reason she was fired from her practice; Addison is finding it difficult to talk to Naomi because it is like she is a different person.

The next new episode will feature the arrival of Bailey as well as the announcement of who is Lucas' father. Stay tuned.

Grey's: "All you've got is a bunch of yesterdays and a very few tomorrows"

Here is a short recap of this week's Grey's Anatomy.

The most important storyline is that Lexie and Meredith's father, Thatcher, is in the hospital with what they find out is liver failure. Because he is an alcoholic, he is not eligible to be placed on the transplant list. Lexie offers to go through with the life threatening surgery but she is not a match. Lexie then pleads with Meredith, even going as far as to say that it wouldn't be for their father but as a favor from Meredith to Lexie, who just wants her father back. In the end, Meredith is a match and goes through with the operation, even after Thatcher has to be convinced to take the liver; He feels like Meredith doesn't owe him anything. At the end of the show, both were in recovery and doing well.

Some other storylines include: Cristina pleading with the chief to cut her from the program since no one is willing to help her learn; Cali, who stressed the entire episode about approaching him, is rehired by the chief; Izzie talks Owen into fighting for a cancer patient who then dies during surgery, which leads to him giving her a speech about how she cannot be both a doctor and a patient at the same time; Alex and Izzie have decided, after a few run-ins with a bear, that they can no longer live in Derek's trailer.

Next week the merger happens and more people will be cut. This promises to be a good episode.

SYTYCD: "Be amazing every time. If you're not, you gotta go"

On Tuesday, So You Think You Can Dance aired its last audition episode before Vegas and the stop was Salt Lake City. Mia was the guest judge and what made this episode special was the high number of impressive ballroom couples.

Wednesday night featured the first few rounds of Vegas week. From the auditions, 152 people made it to this round and when the episode ended only 77 were left. All the contestants were asked to perform solos for the judges to remind them why they are special and before you knew it 41 people were sent home. The shock of the night though came when they sent home Evan's brother Ryan. He was a fan favorite and I was sad to see him go. I almost wonder if they held him to a higher standard and that was why he fell short.

I follow Adam on Twitter and he announced earlier in the week that with the next episode we should be prepared to start feeling a connection with the dancers. I'm looking forward to this and also for a top 20 to be announced.

Shows missing posts

I would usually post about Castle, FlashForward, Mercy, Law & Order: SVU, Dollhouse and other shows, but because of the craziness of this week, I forgot to tape a few, have yet to watch a few and have nothing worth posting in regards to a few.

That said, I have to make a confession: I have been finding it difficult to keep up with all of the shows I post about so don't be surprised if I start writing shorter recaps, no recaps at all or just posts with a few thoughts/questions about recently aired episodes. This will help me entertain you while also making sure I don't burn myself out.

Thanks for understanding. I hope you keep reading.

90210: You can't buy this teen with a new car

Here is a quick recap of the 90210 that aired Tuesday.

- Teddy plans a double date with Adrianna and Navid after he finds out that the happy couple finally had sex. Then, while at the dinner, he is too affectionate with his date in front of Adrianna. They confront one another both admitting that they are jealous and seeking revenge. Then Adrianna says, in anger, "kiss whoever you want," and he kisses her.
- Sasha finds out from his mom that Dixon is a junior in high school. Needless to say she freaks, but he is not as willing to let go. He makes a few attempts to get her to take him back and in the end, they run into one another at a restaurant, and they end up having, what she called, goodbye sex.
- The homeless man's nephew keeps playing the dead uncle card with Annie, and her guilt makes her continue to hang out with him. But she seems to be enjoying it and they seem to be getting close. Though he seems a bit weird and the previews for next week seem to show him going psycho.
- Silver's mom, who is 30 days sober, gives her a car and asks for Silver to come to a meeting where she is speaking. Mom promises to not let Silver down again, but Silver gives her own speech, telling her mom to never come near her again. Then Silver's mom calls Adrianna who delivers the news that her mom is dying from cancer and this was her way of reaching out.
- Ryan takes away Liam's phone, which contains the evidence he needs to win back Naomi, and then Liam acts out in an attempt to get it back. Ryan asks for a meeting with his parents, but when he walks in on Liam's stepfather threatening him and talking about how he's such a bad kid, Ryan tells the parents that he asked for the meeting because Liam is doing so well.
- Naomi has only ever wanted to go to college at California University. So when a guidance counselor tells her she does not have the grades, test scores or extracurriculars to get in, she lets herself go and gets into a slump. Adrianna and Silver inspire her and help her realize that she cannot give up on her dream. But instead of working on her grades, Naomi hatches a plan to date the dean of admission's son and win over the dean, thus cementing her place as a student there. At the end of the episode Liam sees Naomi on her first fake date with the son and, feeling as if it's already too late, deletes the recording he has of Jen admitting they had sex.

Glee: "We're gonna win. You're gonna lose. Deal with it."

Last night's glee was pretty funny. Mostly because I loved Sue's speech at the beginning about how children need to be terrified. Another memorable Sue scene was when she was writing in her diary and came to the conclusion that if she can't destroy the glee club, then she will have to destroy Will. I also loved this episode because I loved how Terri kept telling the kids the decongestant pills were safe because they were over the counter and that she knows because she's a nurse, when she really has zero qualifications. Plus there was that random Asian guy who had no lines and no name but could dance really well. Overall, these are some of the reasons last night's episode was wonderful.

As for action that forwarded the season, we saw Rachel befriend Quinn who is going to need friends once the cheerios turn on her; Finn admits he feels stretched too thin and was the first to use the pills as a pick-me-up; Ken and Terri hatch a plan to stop the almost affair between Emma and Will, which leads to Ken proposing and Emma, oddly, saying yes; and Quinn agrees to give Terri her baby. Also, the guys and the girls were told to perform and compete against one another, which lead to two extremely high energy routines.

I liked this episode and stand by my theory that the show keeps getting better.

How long will some of the least favorite shows on TV survive?

According to TV by the Numbers and this Vulture post, some shows, even though they have diehard fans and network support, may not be successful enough to continue on the airways when you look at overall popularity. There is even a mathematical way to figure out when a show is near its final breath. Among the list of shows with a great possibility to be cut are Castle and Dollhouse, two shows I watch, as well as other shows like Melrose Place, Three Rivers, Law & Order and The Forgotten. Follow the link for the complete story. Would you be sad if any of these shows were canceled sometime soon? I think I'd miss Castle the most.

OTH: " All you can do is weather the storm"

Here are some thoughts on Monday's One Tree Hill episode that included a Clothes Over Bros fashion show and a tabloid story about Nate's affair and love child.

- How dare Victoria make Brooke doubt what she has with Julian. Just because Julian has offered to help Alex with her script does not mean he will cheat on her.
- Here is my theory on Quinn: I think she did something really awful and is punishing herself. She doesn't think he deserves her husband and is trying her hardest to push him away, even going to the extreme of sleeping with Clay.
- I can't believe Hailey would be stupid enough to slap the girl who is saying she had an affair with Nate. Much less in front of the paparazzi. Hailey is too level headed for that.
- I love that Millie, Brooke and Alex decided to send the "Zero is not a size" message at the fashion show.
- I give Nate a lot of credit for worrying about his family, Jamie in particular, throughout the scandal instead of only worrying about his career.
- The woman spreading the affair rumor has some serious guts to be able to walk up to Hailey and say Nathan doesn't love her. I didn't see that one coming.

A few GG thoughts

I just watched this week's Gossip Girl episode and I want to make a few comments.

- We already know Scott is in Boston, we did not need the Boston Globe newspaper box and Legal Sea Foods truck in the background.
- Why does every single romantic line out of Chuck's mouth make me want to sigh and hold my heart? Who knew he had such a romantic side.
- I loved the scene where Serena and Rufus were role playing Serena telling Lily about not going to Brown. And, of course Serena would keep losing her concentration when he made a mistake.

That said, I cannot wait for the return of drama next week. Rufus and Lily finally get married and Georgina pulls the strings, threatening to tell Scott's secret. Juicy stuff!

Put on some sleeves and give a girl some chocolate

On Monday's Big Bang Theory, which was a bit less funny than usual, two main storylines happened. 1) Howard and Raj dressed up in gothic attire and went to a Goth club hoping to meet girls. But when one asked them to get a tattoo, they chickened out. 2) Sheldon tried to condition Penny by feeding her chocolate as positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior much to the disgust of Leonard who does not want Sheldon training his girlfriend. Though it did seem to be working.

SNL gets a big name surprise visit

I would like to talk about two skits from this weekend's Saturday Night Live hosted by Ryan Reynolds and with musical guest Lady Gaga. The first is the open. While I have been an avid Obama supporter from the very beginning, it was difficult to not find this skit extremely funny. Second, how awful was the Lady Gaga/Madonna skit? It had some potential but the dancing was off and they couldn't even deliver their lines successfully. Both skits are embedded below. Let me know if you feel the same way about either. TO CLARIFY: I think the Obama skit worked better because he did not talk in his usual Obama way. Also, the Madonna skit was funny until Madonna made an appearance.

Seattle Grace gets a new surgeon

Kim Raver has signed on to do a recurring guest stint on Grey's Anatomy playing a surgeon who becomes a part of an Owen/Cristina love triangle. The full story is here. I love this news since I love Raver, I just wish they would give Owen and Cristina a chance at a real relationship before the throw in another wrench.

Jon and Kate meets Law and Order

A Law and Order episode inspired by Jon and Kate Gosselin is set to air Oct. 16. All the details are here. It sounds like it could be interesting so maybe I'll watch, I'm just worried this is foreshadowing something awful.

GG daily intel link

Gossip Girl is one of the shows I will be sure to watch, but for those who are impatient, here is the link to the New York Magazine Daily Intel blog reality index. Let me know if you think last night's episode fell on the real or unreal side. Also, feel free to leave your own tallies in the comment section.

Happy birthday to me!

Today is my 22nd birthday, which means there has been and will be many celebrations. All this leads to me having little time to watch and write about all the shows I follow. So for the next few days expect me to be behind on posting and, as a warning, I may even skip posting about a few shows. Please understand. Things will be back to normal in a few days.

Entourage: Apparently Ari has a heart

Last night was the Entourage season finale and I have to admit, I was entertained. Plus, almost all of the storylines ended the way I thought they should, with the exception of Turtle, so the guys seem to be happy in their lives. Here is a recap.

- Turtle, as proof that he is moving on from Jamie, tells the guys he slept with the sorority girl, but a few seconds later we find out he is lying. Turtle then goes to her place and is obviously not into his make out session with her. She even compares kissing him to kissing a corpse. This is obviously because he loves Jamie and he tells the girl he wishes he had gone to New Zealand with her. That's when he realizes he should go. So he packs his bag and gets on a plane, all the while calling her numerous times. Jamie finally calls him back only to tell him not to come. She says she didn't break up with him for him, like she said, but that she broke up with him for her; If they are going to have a future together, Jamie says she doesn't want them to try to work at their relationship now.
- Drama considers quitting acting even when he learns that Melrose Place really wants him. But after they offer him more money, he decides to go in for the audition because he could still turn it down if they offer it to him. The producer tells him he blew them away with the audition but that the network thinks he is too old for Melrose. Yet, they were so impressed by him, they want to put a holding deal on him while they create a show for him to star in.
- Ari and his wife are in therapy talking about Ari buying Terrance's company. Apparently, Ari needs to front $12 million of the deal himself, but the money he would need to use would actually be his wife's so he needs her permission. His wife thinks the purchase is too personal and that it is only for revenge, but Ari swears he needs the company because it is good business. So his wife lets him have the money. Then, while in a meeting with Terrance, Ari finds out that the contract says that after he buys the company it cannot be renamed Miller-Gold because the current name has a history. Ari storms out. Terrance then goes to visit Ari and confronts Ari for not letting go of the past. Terrance only wants to continue his legacy and the reason he wants Ari to buy the company is because he knows Ari will be able to do that. Ari wants an apology and Terrance delivers, so Ari agrees to let him keep his name. So, with a paintball gun in hand, Ari storms through the office firing people. He even yells about wanting Lloyd to meet him at his office. Lloyd actually shows up and stands up for himself to Ari, showing guts Ari admits he didn't even know Lloyd had. That is when Ari offers Lloyd an agent position, complete with his own office.
- Vince is leaving for Italy the next day to film a movie and at the beginning of the episode it seems like he is going alone. Also in this episode, Matt Damon corners Vince and tells him he wants him involved with a foundation he does work for that helps kids. But after they meet by accident in a store, Matt also calls Vince and pressures him some more. Then they run into one another while boarding the plane to Italy and Matt tells Vince the amount he donated wasn't enough and that he needs to donate more. So Vince agrees because it's "for the kids." As the episode ends, Vince boards the plane to Italy.
- At the beginning of the episode we hear from E that he is planning to tell Sloan - AGAIN - that he wants to get back together with her and that he is planning a special lunch. He takes her to lunch at a place where they spent a romantic weekend together three years ago and when he tells her his plan, she gets pissed. She had canceled a date with the guy she is seeing because E told her what they were doing was really important. She demands they go home right away. During the drive E tries to talk to her and when things get heated he pulls over to the side of the road. They get out and argue. Sloan calls E selfish and says he took her for granted when they were together. She says she still can't trust him because he will never be able to commit to her fully. Then E tells her he is so willing to commit that he is willing to drive to Vegas and marry her right then. At first she doesn't believe him, but then she sees the ring he has with him. The next day, they announce their engagement to the guys and point out that the only reason they didn't elope was that they knew the guys - and her father - would have been mad that they missed the wedding.

So, in the end, Drama joined Vince on the trip to Italy and Turtle plans to meet them there once he can get a flight from New Zealand. Right before the plane left, Sloan told E he could go if he wanted to, which was a test, and he kissed her and got on the plane. Just as she was about to walk away pissed off, he turns around and tells her he was kidding. Maybe he really has changed and is ready for a commitment with her.

Well, there it is. Another season ended. What did you think of the episode and the season as a whole? Do you also wish they showed Vince shooting his movie once in a while? Vince needs a storyline, why couldn't that be it? Until next season.

Dollhouse: "It wasn't real." "But it was for her."

For Echo's latest engagement, Topher did more than just implant a personality; He changed her physical being and made it so that she could breast feed. So when things in the engagement go south and Echo fears for her and the baby's lives, she is extracted. But after Topher swipes her, she wakes up and punches him. Paul is smart enough to realize that she has no memories, but that the swipe did not remove the maternal instincts he implanted her with. She had returned to the home to save the baby from the father who she thought wanted him dead.

Later, when Paul gets Echo alone and everyone is safe, she talks about how she doesn't only remember everything about her past identities, but she feels it all. When Paul suggests telling Topher so he can fix it, she says the way she is now is better than feeling nothing. And, in another act of heroism, Paul releases Echo from her obligation to help him bring down the dollhouse. He is willing to do it on his own, while also promising to help her get out safely.

FlashForward: "What if we just saw a possible future, like a warning?"

Here are a few thoughts I have, plus a few questions, after watching the second episode of FlashForward.

- I hate how the wife is in denial. She keeps acting like she can change the future, even uttering the line that is the title of this post. And, on a similar note, I appreciated that the husband said he is acting like the flash is definite at work but at home he is wishing it doesn't happen. I just don't think they can have it both ways.
- Of course kids would think it is cool to play blackout. And of course they would ostracize the one kid who didn't want to play. I just find it hard to believe that every other kid had a flash of something happy and worth remembering.
- Who is D. Gibbons and how creepy was it when the daughter said he's a bad man?
- Noh found someone else who did not see anything during the blackout and a few minutes later she was killed, further cementing in his mind the belief that his lack of flash means he will be dead. Then, after posting on the mosaic website, he gets a mysterious phonecall where the woman tells him the exact day he will be murdered. This begs the question, can he stop his fate?
- How did the little boy, Dillon, now Olivia's name before he even met her? We saw her flash and he wasn't a part of it. How could he know someone he has never met? Also, how could the daughter know D. Gibbons is a bad man from her flash, yet also have seen Dillon in her flash?

I'm still intrigued by this show, especially since the FBI now knows there was cell phone communication between the man awake in the baseball park and D. Gibbons. I just hope the show doesn't drag out the mystery for too long.

SYTYCD: Or do you at least think you can make the judges laugh?

Tuesday's So You Think You Can Dance episode, which showed footage of the auditions in Atlanta and featured Lil C as the guest judge, had the judges asking for more than just great technique, but also for a great performance. It happens a lot with immature dancers - they have everything they need to be great, but they do not engage the audience in their performance. This was one of the major points of Tuesday's episode and I think it is an important lesson many dancers need to learn.

Then came Wednesday night's episode, which took place in New Orleans. Nigel was receiving his honorary degree during the filming of this episode so joining Mary as the judge was Lil C and Adam Shankman. I think that without Nigel though, the remaining judges went a bit crazy. They put an awful dancer through to choreography just because he was fun and entertaining. There was a lot of laughing coming from these three and it made me wonder if they were taking things seriously. They even admitted to missing Nigel, but only in the context of dealing with bad dancers because he usually knows what to say so that he is still being constructive.

Also during Wednesday's episode we received a list of things not to do in an audition, courtesy of Mary Murphy. Here it is:
1) Don't pull your hat down over your eyes
2) Stop reaching out to nowhere
3) No unnecessary rubbing of body parts
4) Men need to stop booty shaking
Her main message was that to impress the judges the dancers need to do more and be better than ever before, so the above items will not get you anywhere but sent home.

Private Practice: "Where's the baby?"

This episode picks up right where the season finale left off, but it also shows flashes of when the practice was first started and, more specifically, how Pete and Violet met. The first shots of the episode show Pete, Sam and Naomi at a funeral, which leaves us thinking the worst. Here is a recap of what happened during the episode.

Pete finds Violet and with Naomi's help they get her to the hospital. Addison rushes in to be her doctor and spearheads the surgery. Everyone wants to blame themselves, especially Cooper, but they all need to realize that there wasn't much they could have done; Only Katie is really to blame. While in the waiting room, the men are freaking out and Sheldon and Pete are even fighting. This causes Dell to go into the operating room with the hope of taking back some promising news. He ends up sitting by Violet's side and talking with her.

Then Violet gets worse. She is bleeding faster than they can sew up her insides and faster than they can transfuse more blood in. Naomi suggests Addison do a hysterectomy, but before she does she wants approval from Pete/Sheldon. Pete and Sheldon agree that Addison should do everything in her power to save Violet, even if that means doing a hysterectomy. Then Addison looks to Cooper for help and Cooper says Violet would never want a hysterectomy especially since at this point they still have no idea where the baby is. Addison agrees and decides to do all she can without going to the extreme length of a hysterectomy.

Throughout all this Cooper has been receiving pages from the hospital, but he refuses to answer because he is not in the right state of mind to be a doctor. But after five pages, he storms to the nurses station and tells them to stop, which is when the nurse says he was being paged instead of someone else because the mother said he was the only doctor she wanted for her baby. Cooper turns to see Katie sitting in the waiting room holding Violet's baby. It is clear that Katie thinks the baby is hers. She even tells Cooper she heard about Violet on TV and is sorry. Cooper, with Pete's help, gets Katie to hand over the baby by saying he looks a little pale and needs to be checked, and security swoops in to take her into custody.

While checking the baby, the doctors find something wrong and he also needs surgery. Violet seems to be doing a bit better so Addison runs to rescue the baby, leaving Naomi alone with Violet. Violet codes, but Naomi works on her and gets her to respond only to watch her get worse. Dell pulls Addison away from the baby and the drug Addison decides to give to Violet will either help or kill her. The drug works, but both Violet and the baby are not doing well. Addison did all she could but it is still possible neither will recover.

To back track, here is a bit of other stuff you need to know about tonight's episode.
- We learn through flashes of the past that right after Pete's wife died he was a patient of Violet's. This was also right when the practice was started. When a position opens up and they need a doctor to fill it, Sam and Naomi want Pete, but Violet thinks his wife's death messed him up too much for him to be a successful doctor. But during the course of a few days, Violet sees Pete multiple times and he finally admits to her that he hated his wife and that he was almost happy when she died. After this breakthrough, Violet says they should hire Pete and that he would be good for the practice.
- Addison and Naomi find time to have a fight about Naomi leaving the practice. Addison says the reason she felt she had to save both Violet and the baby is that they are "her people" and since Naomi left them, she has no right to lay claim anymore.
- Dell has his daughter back, which is all he ever wanted, but now he has to find a way to be a successful single dad. Cooper gives him some advice - love her unconditionally and don't be afraid to ask for help.
- Violet tells Pete when they first start working together that what happened with his wife, particularly how he felt after she died, does not make him a bad man. It only means he married the wrong person. She even tells him she's sure he will find the right person in the future. (How cute is it that the right person is her?)

Just as the episode came to an end, Violet woke up! Oh, and as for the funeral they attended at the beginning of the episode, it was a flashback of Pete's wife's funeral.

This is what a season premiere is supposed to be like. I enjoyed the episode and rooted for the characters the entire time. Personally, I would have been heartbroken if Violet had died. Luckily Addison is a brilliant surgeon who was able to save them both.

Grey's: "You deserve to be here. Act like it."

During tonight's Grey's Anatomy episode, everyone is stressed about the merger, which, if you think about it, leaves the patients to suffer. The doctors refuses to take breaks or go home because it shows weakness and all they can talk about is the possibility of losing their job. There is no way they are at their best or able to truly concentrate on the patients, which is a shame. Anyway, here is a synopsis of the episode.

- Cristina tells Arizona that she wants to be a part of the pediatrics rotation. This seems out of characters for Cristina but her reasoning, as told to Arizona, is that in pediatrics you get to operate on all parts of the body and don't have to narrow down a real specialty. But then we see Cristina's interaction with the kids and realize that this is an awful idea since she has no people skills let alone children skills. We later find out that the real reason Cristina wanted to join this rotation is that she is worried about being fired. She realized that everyone else has a reason to not be fired - Izzie because she is sick, Meredith because she has Derek, Alex because he is Bailey's new favorite - but that Cristina is expendable. So Cristina thought that if she proved herself to Arizona and became her favorite, then she wouldn't be fired. Arizona finally catches on, with Callie's help, and she confronts Cristina telling her she hates being used and, when she tries to protest, that she hates being lied to even more.
- In other Arizona news, Callie, who is also worried about the merger since she knows the chief is still mad at her for walking away from Seattle Grace, announced that she is looking for other jobs - in particular, one in Oregon. At first Arizona seems to understand this but later she opens up about how she doesn't want to do the long distance relationship thing. We also learn a bit about her insecurities and now that they are labeled each others' girlfriends, things between them have the opportunity to grow.
- Izzie returns to work three weeks early mostly because she is also afraid for her job, but partly because she is going crazy in the trailer. She also is sporting a wig that she says is to comfort the patients so that they do not know immediately that she has cancer, but it is all the people who know her can stare at and it makes for some awkward encounters. While at work, Alex hovers a bit. But when he points out that she is not being safe - not eating, not taking her pills, working surgeries that are hours long - we realize that he is truly looking out for her best interest. At the end of the episode Alex confronts Izzie and tells her that he understands she has to keep doing what she loves, which is being a doctor, but that she also must take care of herself.
- The medical case that is at the center of this episode includes a mother who was in a car accident and her son who is paranoid schizophrenic. The mother has a mass in her stomach that needs to be surgically removed, but because her son has no one else to care for him, she refuses. She only gets more adamant about not leaving her son when he gets paranoid with Lexie and runs away. But while loose in the hospital he falls down a flight of stairs and is injured. Though his injuries are not as life threatening as his mother's, Lexie gets the idea that if both are in surgery at the same time and are forced to recover together, then maybe the mother would agree to the surgery. In this end, this is what happens and both people are allowed a chance to survive.
- While everyone in the hospital is freaking out, Richard will not talk to anyone. Even when Derek barges in and demands answers, Richard refuses to say anything substantive, though he does acknowledge that he is angry at Derek and does not feel like he owes him anything. All episode we see nurses, residents, interns, etcetera worrying about their fate. The first round of cuts was made at the end of the episode and many employees, including much of the intern class, received the email. But what this experience taught the characters is that they need to stop worrying and just live life. And as a way to visualize this, the main characters - Derek, Mark, Owen, Cristina, Meredith and Lexie - take some time having fun away from the hospital; They drink some beers and play some baseball.

I liked this week's episode. But I do have one thing I want to point out: I find it very difficult to believe that a hospital would allow a patient, who only weeks earlier was near death from cancer, to return to work as a doctor. How can Izzie possibly be ready for the stress, long hours, etcetera of that of a doctor? Did anyone else find this weird?

SVU: "You'll never break another promise to me"

I am going to try my best to summarize what happened on last night's Law & Order: SVU, but if you ever get a chance to watch the episode - which guest starred Eric McCormack - I suggest you do because it was pretty great.

A woman is found dead from strangulation and stuffed naked into a suitcase, which had been thrown from the window of a moving train heading to Florida. The detectives find out that she is a member of a website where younger attractive woman can go if they are in need of a "sugar daddy." The detectives also do some digging and find out that the owner of the website bought it shortly after going on a date with the dead woman. Apparently, they were in love, or at least up until a few hours before her death.

The man, once in police custody, keeps trying to confess and even proclaims guilt while at arraignment. His lawyer announces that he plans to argue that his client was so extremely stressed that he just snapped. So the detectives go through surveillance footage hoping to find him on it to get a glimpse at his facial expression either before or after the murder.

When the detectives cannot find any evidence of the man ever even being at the train station before the murder, they get suspicious and realize the woman they thought was the murdered girl entering the train was really the man's daughter masquerading as the girlfriend. The daughter was the one who really killed her. The father found them and decided that no matter how much he loved his girlfriend, he loved his daughter more so he promised to take the fall for the murder if it came to that. The daughter tells the detectives that this must be proof that he loves her. But he also made the promise to her that he would keep her safe, so when she is arrested she turns on the father and actually kills him by stabbing him in the neck with scissors. She refused to allow her father to disappoint her again.

I gasped rather loudly when the twist at the end happened. As I said at the top, this was a good episode. Catch it next time it is on. It's worth it.

Mercy: "Your job is to advocate for your patients"

Here is a brief recap of this week's Mercy.

- Each nurse had one patient who they devoted much of their time to in this episode. For Chloe, it is a drug addict who took advantage of her naivety and got her to give him his drugs. But in the end Chloe listens to her gut and saves the patient's life when everyone else was willing to just dismiss him as a druggie. As for Sonia, she is usually very hard-edged and does not like to get attached to patients. But when a Jane Doe with HIV is brought into the ER she goes searching for her family members. Then, when her son wants nothing to do with her even though she is near death, Sonia sits in the room with her until she dies. Veronica also had a case to work on. A young man gets in a stupid accident and in the end, after thinking he was going to be OK, has to have part of his leg amputated. This makes him severely depressed and Veronica goes to extreme lengths - even searching for the amputated leg so that the patient can say goodbye to it - to cheer him up.
- At the beginning of the episode Veronica announces that her plan is to play it cool with Dr. Sands but we soon see that she is really bad at this. He knows that things are awkward, but they don't really have a choice in the matter. When he starts complaining about how much he hates living in New Jersey, Veronica suggests leaving, but he says no. Sands tells her he has no intention of sabotaging her marriage but that he also does not plan to give up on her.
