Jay Leno, the McDonald's employee?

While I'm sure Jay Leno would never have to stoop as low as to become a McDonald's burger flipper, the fact that he mentioned how he may be "doing this again very soon" (this being working at McDonald's) may mean there have already been discussions about discontinuing The Jay Leno Show. Below is the video and here is a link to another blog post about the slip. What do you think? Is The Jay Leno Show in danger? Should it be? Are you watching? Let me know.

  1. Leno should be very worried about his job. On top of the fact that its ratings aren't very good, it means that NBC can't air the kind of shows it would normally air at 10 p.m. (example: they cancelled Southland because it wasn't the kind of program they'd run at 8 or 9 p.m.).

NBC hasn't announced anything, but they are ordering tons of pilots for next year. There really isn't much for NBC to cut, but eliminating Jay would free up space for at least five shows.

(Blogger won't let me paste the link, but Google "nbc pilots" and you'll see what I'm talking about.)

Also, local affiliates really don't like Leno (7 in Boston is a prime example). With fewer people watching NBC after 10 p.m., they have fewer people watching their 11 p.m. newscasts, a prime source of income for them.
