No one wants to wear those stupid glasses while sitting in their living room

According to this article, the days of watching television shows in 3D while in your living room are not far off, but you will have to buy a 3D capable television first.

UPDATE: This article reports that ESPN and the Discovery Channel are close to launching stations in 3D.

While I'm sure there are people out there who enjoy 3D, I can't help but see the negatives. First, I don't think it is fair to ask millions of Americans to buy new televisions, which are, of course, going to be extremely overpriced when they first become available. Second, not every show will have 3D elements so will it really be worth it? Plus, if you have a smaller television, the effects will most likely be lost. All in all, I don't see the necessity of this. Am I missing something? Are there people who are really excited about this transition?
