Spoiler: Another medical drama premieres

If there can never be too many police shows, then I guess there can also never be enough medical shows. Tonight, the new TNT drama HawthoRNe, starring Jada Pinkett Smith, premiered. The show follows chief nursing officer Christina during her daily tasks working in a hospital. The show is very character driven, much like ER, and I think that may help it find an audience. Now that ER has completed its run, fans may be looking for a similar show to watch. Well this is that show.

Christina, while seemingly devoted to her work as a chief nurse, also has character flaws, most of which stem from her family problems; her husband died a year ago, her daughter acts out in school and she hates her mother-in-law. Regardless, while at work, it is obvious she is someone the other nurses look up to. She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and is a powerful female role model.

For those who enjoy ER, I suggest watching this show. As for the first episode, if you watched I would love to hear your opinion. Did you like it? Will you continue watching? What do you think makes the show likable? Leave it here.
