Guiding Light, the CBS soap opera that has been on the air for more than seven decades, will air its last show Sept. 18. Here is the boston.com Viewer Discretion blog post about it. Notice the comments and how sad people are about the cancellation.
I never watched this particular soap but I do sometimes watch Days of Our Lives, another long running daytime show. My worry is that this will start a trend where many of the daytime soaps will be discontinued. I feel for those who have followed Guiding Light for years and will have to cope with an empty hour in the middle of their days.
