According to this article, last night's CW premiere of the Vampire Diaries was the most watched series premiere in the network's history. I have not caught hold of this vampire craze, so I was not among the 4.8 million people who watched. But I know people who did, and these people are quite addicted to vampires, and they enjoyed the show.

More proof that vampires are cool
