Tonight's So You Think You Can Dance results show opened with a broadway group dance performance. It was choreographed by Tyce and overall was very cool. I especially enjoyed the part where some of the dancers jumped through the picture frame as it moved upstage. There was a lot of running around during the performance and I thought it was very high energy. One side thought, does anyone else agree that Kayla looked naked and because of it stood out from everyone else? It was a bit weird.
My mention about Cat tonight has nothing to do with her outfit, but instead her awful, messy bed-head hair. She looked a bit too disheveled for me.
As for who was in the bottom three, Randi and Evan were safe but Karla and Vitolio, Kayla and Kupono and Janine and Phillip all had to dance for their lives. Now for my critique of their solos:
1) I liked that Karla danced a solo with a story. She was a bird and she captured my attention even though she only danced for a a very short time. It was pretty good.
2) I think Vitolio's solos are always boring. I was not impressed at all.
3) Kayla usually has better solos. Tonight she was all legs, arms and hair flipping. She hardly seemed to move. She in no way used the stage. I didn't like it.
4) Kupono's solo also sucked. He was much too laid back during his performance and it led to him doing little.
5) We have never seen Janine's solo and I have a newfound appreciation for her. She is a wonderful dancer. Her solo was great.
6) Phillip is the best at his style, we all know this, so that is why I was slightly excited to see his solo. And I was not disappointed. It was a very entertaining performance.
In the end, though the judges told Kupono and Kayla that their solos were not up to par, Karla and Vitolio were the ones sent home. I have to say that I am not shocked. These two obviously do not have a following so to keep them would have only led to them being in the bottom again next week.
Anyone heartbroken about the most recent departures? I'm just glad we kept Randi and Evan out of the bottom. I do hope they step it up soon, though. There's always next week, I guess.
